Christmas Presence

Our theme for the Reading Room Christmas decorations this year is Christmas Presence.

Designed to turn thought from  the material focus on presents at Christmas, it was designed to direct thought to the ever presence of the Christ in our lives, and our role as watchful shepherds, to welcome it in to our consciousness.

And we find  the greatest presents from the Christ presence are already here:

And finally, the eternal nature of those gifts – the original poem from which hymn 587 was drawn.

And there is nothing like some Christmas lights to bring thought into focus! 🙂

And finally, reflecting on  Mrs Eddy’s comments from her first address in The Mother Church, let us be wakeful shepherds this season:

It has long been a question of earnest import, How shall mankind worship the most adorable, but most unadored, — and where shall begin that praise that shall never end? Beneath, above, beyond, methinks I hear the soft, sweet sigh of angels answering, “So live, that your lives attest your sincerity and resound His praise.”
(Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 106:22)

We are grateful for each and every one of you who have prayed this year for our community, the church, its Reading Room, visited the Reading Room or attended our events.  Your support is appreciated.  We  wish to everyone everywhere, peace this Christmas and always.
