Reading Room Book Club

Hi everyone!

The Reading Room book club is currently reading “Mary Baker Eddy – The Years of Discovery” by Robert Peel.  We are nearly finished and soon will be moving on to the second book in this trilogy “The Years of Trial”.

Over the last two years, we have read a number of biographies about Mary Baker Eddy and whilst this series by Robert Peel is proving challenging, it is immensely informative and thought provoking, about the struggles and challenges confronting Mrs Eddy during over 40 years of dedicated and deeply spiritual work.

We join together for an hour at 2.30pm on Tuesday via Zoom and read aloud to each other, taking turns.  I have found that listening gives me more time to ponder what is being read – rather than being tempted to skim read.  It is also lovely to be able to practice our own reading and listening skills.  Everyone is welcome to join!  If you don’t have the book (available for sale at the Reading Room), we share the text on screen so that anyone can participate in the reading.  If you just want to come and listen you are also very welcome.  Hope to see you there!
